Abstract

This study examines women's religious authority in the practice of Qur'an interpretation on social media as the main unit of analysis, focusing on how women build legitimacy and convey religious interpretation in the digital space. The purpose of this research is to analyze the transformation of religious authority, identify the role of women as subjects of interpretation, and understand how gender perspectives affect the interpretation of the Qur'an in the digital age. This research uses a qualitative approach with an interpretive design, through content analysis and discourse analysis of data in the form of videos, captions, and digital interactions on platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, supported by literature related to interpretation, gender, and digital media. The results show that social media has created a new space that allows women to appear as alternative religious authorities, with a more contextual and sensitive interpretation approach to women's experiences. However, the authority still faces challenges in the form of scientific legitimacy, gender stereotypes, and the logic of social media algorithms. This research contributes to enriching the study of Qur'an Science and Gender-based Tafsir by integrating digital media perspectives, as well as providing a new understanding of the dynamics of religious authority that is more inclusive in the contemporary era
