About the Journal

International Journal of Integrated Legal Systems (IJILS) is a peer-reviewed, open-access academic journal dedicated to the study and synthesis of diverse legal traditions across the globe. The journal aims to explore the intersections, convergences, and divergences between secular legal systems—such as civil law, common law, and international law—and religious or customary legal frameworks, particularly Islamic law (Sharia).

IJILS provides an intellectual platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to examine how different legal systems coexist, interact, and evolve in pluralistic societies. It encourages critical and comparative legal scholarship that bridges normative legal theory, doctrinal analysis, and socio-legal studies.

The journal welcomes original research articles, case studies, legal commentaries, and book reviews in areas including, but not limited to: Comparative Law between Islamic and Civil/Western legal systems; Legal Pluralism and Hybrid Legal Orders; Constitutionalism and Religious Law; Sharia Implementation in Modern States; Human Rights in Islamic and Secular Legal Perspectives; Integration of Islamic Finance and Commercial Law in Global Contexts; Customary Law and Indigenous Legal Traditions; and Judicial Approaches to Conflicting Legal Norms

IJILS is committed to advancing scholarly dialogue on how legal systems can be integrated or harmonized while respecting cultural and normative diversity. It publishes biannually in English and aspires to become a leading international reference in the field of comparative and integrated legal studies.
